Early risers, this program is for you! After you roll out of bed and enjoy your cup of java, join us at Orchard Hills at 6 a.m. Monday, August 17 and kick-start your week by connecting with nature. Wake up to the natural world, astounding views and steep hills. It sure beats the crowded, sweaty gym.
This invigorating three-mile trek offers breath-taking vistas and photo opportunities as the sun slowly rises over Orange County. Travel through working avocado orchards and get your heart pumping with several steep climbs with 800 feet of accumulated elevation. In addition to the views, anticipate seeing a variety of wildlife that could include coyotes, bobcats, brush rabbits, hawks and song birds.

Acorn Woodpecker
The Official Bird of Orange County
The acorn woodpecker, named for its primary food source, also is known as the official bird of the OC. They can be found almost anywhere on the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks, including in Limestone, Round, Baker, Weir and Fremont canyons. This medium-sized bird looks for oaks or sycamores and loves the “canyon bottoms” and any groves; or pretty much any place you’ll find a tree or clump of trees.
